You can always start now's avatar

I want to start some solid routines and rituals as transition coming up. I started an art journal this winter. Collage and painting - basically making a mess. It was easy as nothing serious more play. Also, I've made a smashbook for years now. I capture what I'm doing like theatre tickets, events, and travel. Sending positive vibes for your writing.

This post is a perfect examole of understanding that saying yes to one creative project (your novel) means saying no or not as much to another (substack). It's so hard to not want to do everything & beat yourself up when you can't. But I appreciate your gentle tone. As a parent, I love hearing your perspective as a non-parent. It's easy for me to fall into a trap of blaming my family for having to say no to some projects & frankly, that's probably not as true as I make it out to be. Sometimes you just have to say no, period. It's not my sweet family's fault!

Mmm yes, as much as I don't want to choose, the reality is that I end up choosing anyway, whether intentional or not! I imagine the balancing act as a parent is doubly tricky, but like you say, it's a balancing act in some way for probably all of us. And we can never to everything. Unfortunately. (Grumble.)
